Forest School Activities
Outdoor Learning
Tiny Wilds children have the space to run, jump and climb, to take risks, be creative and use their imaginations. Our nature play garden has many magical places for quiet, peaceful play, winding meadow paths to explore, boulders to climb, a vegetable garden for growing, a willow dome, sweetpea tipi and more. Children are able to free-flow between the garden the lovely light yurt, set up for all kinds of creative indoor fun, story time and a selection of homemade, recycled and wooden toys.
Tiny Wilds began with our childcare setting for 3-5 year olds and is now the umbrella name for Teeny Tiny Wilds (2 & 3), Tiny Wilds (3 - 4.5), Mighty Wilds (4.5 - 7), Magic Mighties (8+) and Bebe Wilds - our bi-weekly baby and toddler group for 0-4 year olds. We are a fully Oftsed registered Early Years Provider (2-8 years) and an Alternative Education Provision (8-11 years).
Our Learning Spaces
Tiny Wilds is based in the garden of a farm on the wild Western edge of Dartmoor. It provides a unique opportunity for young children to learn in an environment rich with wildlife, plant life and farm life. The play garden, Tiny Wilds’ home space, is a sloped semi-wild field, with small fruit trees and paths mown through the long grass, mud kitchen and compost loo. We also have cosy indoor spaces for the children, where we learn phonics, maths, science, and many creative subjects. We do not have desks for the children, instead we like to sit on cushions for circle time and learning, and we encourage children to lie on the floor and move their bodies to feel comfortable.
